This is a very good book! If you want to learn about HTML and putting something up on the web, this one will do nicely. It's clear, straightforward, understandable, and as it says in the title, full-colour!

This is possibly the only down point of this manual. In the centre of almost every page is a 'full-color' picture of a monitor with some relevant screenshot, usually showing NetScape or NotePad. This in itself is OK, but they show the whole monitor and stand, not just a part of the screen! Although this takes up a fair amount of each double-page, I can forgive them because the information they are trying to convey actually gets conveyed.

The explanation of each 'HTML tag' is coherent if a little short. Objects like tables that require tags within tags, is again, clearly explained and well organized. This leads you on to try your own examples as you read through the book.

Although you can read through the actual contents of this book quite quickly, it will still be needed for reference and as a reminder for quite some time. The amount of tags and the various formats that can be applied to them is quite extensive, plus it includes an appendix of all possible tags for quick reference with a section on character entities!

Some of the subjects covered are, the very basics, graphics, forms, tables, NetScape extensions, and Internet Explorer extensions amongst others. There are addresses of sites to download relevant software from, exercises to try, image maps to create and other stuff to get you working on an example web page.

Everything shown has been done on the PC with only a passing mention of other machines although they do regularly tell you to check to see if a particular function works with your browser.

Yeh, a good book. You'll soon be posting up your own homepages, the only restriction being your creativity!
