A decent adventure game at last! This one comes from Power Computing, is on CD only and is more like the kind of thing the Amiga has been waiting for.
![]() | Set in a new Russia (where they have McRomanov Burgers, Vodkacola, and such like), you play the part of Doug who decides to steal the crown of the Tzar. So you have to 'point and click' your way through various locations to eventually achieve your goal.
And what a lot of pointing and clicking you're going to have to do! Where they mention the word 'BIG' in the title, they mean it. Coming on CD, obviously they can fit loads of graphics, sounds and animations, and that's what they have done. With a really good intro, four main sections, speech and music, they've fitted in quite a lot of 'game'. In case you're interested they've used approx 300 Meg of space on the CD. | ![]()
![]() | Done in a cartoon style, the graphics and animations are very good, they set the atmosphere well and even on a double speed drive load surprisingly quickly. This is probably because everything is in 16 colours, but don't let that put you off because if you didn't bother to find out then you would probably never notice. Move the pointer around and objects and locations get highlighted. Click the right mouse button to bring up your inventory and actions. These are all depicted as small icons, just select one and use it on the main screen or combine one object with another. Simple, eh?
The gameplay is actually not that simple. Although is not too complicated for the novice adventurer it will give some of them the opportunity to write to the magazines asking for help, and some of the puzzles are convoluted enough to keep the smart arses going for a few hours! Fortunately there is a good deal of humour throughout the game, unfortunately not as sharp as the Monkey Island stuff, but you can't have everything. | ![]()
