As old smeg head Rimmer would say "Maaaarvelous!!!" If you've still got one of those four-player adaptors lurking around somewhere then it's time to dig it out and plug it in. Set aside a couple of hours in your busy day, go and find three friends (if you've got any), then fire up a game of Burnout. Enjoyment guaranteed!
Played over four different arenas, with four bonus challenges, tournament or knock-out competitions, a choice of four different cars, and up to four human players, there's quite a bit of scope for variety and interest. And if that's not enough, soon there will be extra cars to add to the game, and an editor to develop your own cars and arenas.

The graphics are excellent, AGA only, rendered cars and backdrops evoking a real futuristic feel. The screens are all HiRes Laced, 640 x 640 and the cars animate at 25 frames per second. Much attention has also been paid to the music and sound effects as well, it's not overflowing with them but there's enough, the scream as you fall of the edge of an arena is particularly good.

The gameplay is simple enough. Start by picking your car, light, heavy, some have reverse, some have better traction. A random arena is chosen and all you have to do is be the last man (car) standing. This is achieved by either raming someone over the edge, raming someone into a spike or raming someone until their armour disintegrates. Gain a point for surviving and an ammount of cash dependant on how long you did last. Do this a couple more times then go to the shop and upgrade your car. Enter another arena and do it again until you either win or loose. Simple, eh?

And jolly good fun it is too. Upgrade your car with the ram-spikes and snigger as everyone tries to avoid you. Or activate your invisibility as someone charges at you and watch them go straight through and over the edge, he he. It's even great just pushing a car onto a spike for instant death. An excellent game that everyone should own. Well done Vulcan, keep up the good work.
