BATH - ITS HISTORIC PAST

BATH ABBEY

First built in 1495 and finished in 1606, it occupies the ancient foundation of the original conventual church erected by King Osric in 676.

The vaults house a fascinating collection of items including Saxon and Norman stonework, a magical reconstruction of the great Norman cathedral and a vivid presentation of the dream of Bishop Oliver King who restored the decayed church in the fifteenth century.
