| It appears evident that the Roman remains now discovered in Stall Street are part of a magnificent and elegant structure. From what was discovered near the Hot and Cross Baths a few years since, there certainly was a temple dedicated to Minerva, the head and horns of young cattle were found, and it is well - known that white heifers were the victims of sacrifice offered to that deity. It is to be wished that the gentlemen of the Corporation so laudably anxious in embellishing the present city of Bath | would include making a museum of every ancient relic that may tend to prove its former splendour, and that every gentleman in possession of Roman remains found in Bath would contribute his mite towards this design, as many learned and curious persons have most justly lamented the shameful neglect in suffering those curious morceaus of antiquity to be lost to the public, and who are daily inquiring for the vestigia of Roman architecture, and find no information. | |
