THE PAINTING, embelishing, and repairing of this noble room (the Pump Room) in pursuance of the late resolution of the Town Council, is commended, and the moveable scaffolding erected. We rejoice to see these preparations for the opening of the approaching season with spirit and eclat. The extensive range of baths adjoining, public and private, has also undergone a thorough repair, and received many valuable improvements for the accommodation of visitors, and for general effect.

AERONAUGHT'S feat: Mr Graham ascended from the Sydney Gardens in his baloon, on Monday last, agreeable to public announcements in the presence of nearly 1,500 spectators. The ascent was a very splendid one, and the shouts of the throng on either side testified the high gratification which the scene affords them. After having been up 20 minutes, Mr Graham entered a dense cloud, and then tried an experiment to float in a horizontal direction.

After remaining in the air about an hour, he descended in a field at Calstone, three miles from Calne, belonging to Mr Carpenter, a most hospitable farmer of the old school, whose table was quickly furnished with everything the house could afford.
